Gorilla Trekking
The largest living primate, gorillas are spread across much of the equatorial African rainforest. Broadly speaking, the species is split into lowland gorillas and mountain gorillas. Rwanda is known for its gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park, but the country is also home to chimpanzees as well a host of monkeys - colobus, golden, l'hoest, owl faced, Dent's, blue and vervet - alongside olive baboons, and the nocturnal potto and bushbabies.Colobus monkeys: Colobus Monkeys are from a unique supergroup spotted in Nyungwe are recognized with their black and white coloring and long hair.L’Hoest’s monkeys: Spotted at Nyungwe and Gishwati Forest, L'Hoest monkeys are endemic to Albertine Rift and live in small groups dominated by females, with a single male.Tracking starts early, at 5.30am, and can last anything from an hour to several hours depending on where the chimps are – visitors spend a maximum of one hour with them once they are found.Bird Watching
In Rwanda and the region, we have a total of 703 bird species (as of 2018). Most birders will focus their attention on Nyungwe National Park in the West of Rwanda and the region and Akagera National Park located in the East.
